Professor Roberto Car,

Professor in Chemistry, Princeton University

Elected Member of the National Academy of Sciences

Professor of Physics, the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics, the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials, and the Princeton Institute for Computational Science and Engineering (PICSciE)

Faculty Fellow (Emeritus) of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science (http://pcts.princeton.edu/pcts/) 

 

Research: Electronic structure theory, classical and quantum simulation of condensed matter systems; liquid and amorphous states of matter; surfaces; defects; clusters; nanostructures; phase transitions; chemical reactions; quantum transport;

 

Publications: Author (co-author) of about 300 publications in peer reviewed journals (with more than 50,000 overall citations; h index = 89; his most quoted paper, titled "Unified Approach for Molecular Dynamics and Density Functional Theory", co-authored with Michele Parrinello, published in Physical Review Letters 55, 2471, (1985) has received more than 10,300 citations; 6 of his publications have more than 1,000 citations each; source: Google Scholar)
