Professor Wei Huang. An Outstanding Scientist in Flexible Electronics, Delivered a Lu Jiaxi Lecture in XMU

On July 21, Professor Wei Huang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Executive Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University, visited Xiamen University and presented a "Lu Jiaxi Lecture" with a title of "'Flexible Electronics +' and Future Prospects". Professor Zhong-Qun Tian (Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Professor Yun-Bao Jiang (Vice President of Xiamen University) issued a lecture commemorative certificate to Professor Huang.

Professor Huang is an outstanding scientist in the fields of organic electronics and flexible electronics. In his speech, he analyzed that under the trend of information revolution and pointed out that China has to grasp the opportunities boosted by accelerating breakthroughs in core technologies and promoting national technological innovation. Flexible electronics, also known as printed electronics or organic electronics, is a disruptive innovation in the intelligent age, which holds great potential in display fields such as flexible screens on smart phones, and medical fields such as wearable devices and implantable devices.

Professor Huang pointed out that the flexible electronics market is rapidly expanding and has broad prospects. The output value from this field is expected to be over 300 billion US dollars by 2028, and it is currently showing a trend of rapid growth. China has made key innovative breakthroughs in this field and produced worldwide leading research achievements.

At the end, he pointed out that flexible electronics is a unique research field that China has the advantages. Assisted by the confidences in innovation, culture, and nationality, China is stepping into a new era of leading the flexible electronics industry.
