Interphase dictates the charge transfer in energy storage materials and chemical reactions of various catalysis processes. Probing the interphase under in-situ and operando conditions allows us to understand the reaction mechanisms through direct observation of the transient dynamical states, which is not feasible under ex-situ scenarios. In this presentation, the efforts in the development of advanced in-situ/operando X-ray spectroscopic and scattering methods will be covered. For instance, the surface dynamics of a polymer thin film is studied with hard X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS), and the significant effect of a graphene substrate in the alteration of surface dynamics is systematically studied. In the probing of electronic structures, with in-situ/operando soft X-ray spectroscopy and pattern enhanced resonant soft X-ray scattering, the solvation at the interphase compared to that in the bulk solution was measured simultaneously. Compared to in-situ transmission electron microscopy which does not provide enough contrast, the in-situ/operando soft X-ray approach enabled by the e-chips fabricated has become one of the very limited techniques with interphase sensitivity, critical to the future development of novel battery electrolytes.

杨斐芃博士,2018年12月毕业于美国阿克伦大学高分子科学与工程学院高分子科学系,2019年3月至2023年6月在美国劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室先进光源ALS进行博士后研究,2023年6月至2025年2月在美国布鲁克海文国家实验室国家同步辐射光源NSLS-II任staff scientist,现为苏州国家实验室能源环境材料研究部研究员。苏州国家实验室是经中央批准成立的新型科研事业单位。实验室以“四个面向”为根本遵循,构建“核心-基地-网络”创新架构,探索“科学-技术-工程”融通创新机制,开展战略性、前瞻性、基础性研究,产出战略性、关键性重大成果,以材料科技创新推动国家发展和人类文明进步。
