报告摘要:
Environmental and health research demands advanced analytical technology. With arsenic research as an example, this presentation will discuss the interplay between the development of analytical technology and studies of environmental health. Chronic exposure to inorganic arsenic increases the risk of developing cancers (e.g., bladder, lung, and skin) and other non-cancerous effects (e.g., diabetes and heart diseases). Clinical application of arsenic is exemplified by the successful treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia. With the wide range of health effects, arsenic research is interdisciplinary in nature. This presentation will describe a few examples of recent research on the determination of arsenic species, studies of arsenic metabolism, development of biomarkers of exposure and susceptibility, and understanding of arsenic interaction with proteins. This research benefits from analytical chemistry, biochemistry, epidemiology, molecular biology, public health, and toxicology.
报告人简介:
乐晓春教授现任阿尔伯塔(Alberta)大学杰出教授,分析与环境毒理研究室主任。于2000年受聘加拿大生物分析技术和环境健康领域首席科学家,获得加拿大化学会颁发的分析化学成就奖和环境科学成就奖等多项奖励。于2010年当选加拿大皇家科学院院士, 2023年当选中国化学会荣誉会士。乐教授在DNA损伤和修复、DNA与蛋白质的相互作用、微量元素的形态分析和代谢过程、环境毒物对人体健康的影响等研究领域取得了杰出成就。在分析化学、环境科学、分子毒理、公共卫生与健康等领域发表文章三百多篇。担任J Environ Sci共同主编、Anal Chem副主编,以及多个期刊的编委。
