报告摘要:
Light-matter coupling in semiconductors is mediated by the excitons – Coulomb correlated electron hole pairs. The excitons are characterized by two key parameters: the optical transition energy and radiative decay rate. We demonstrate theoretically and illustrate these predictions experimentally that the exciton optical transition energies and radiative decay rates can be efficiently tuned in van der Waals heterostructures based on atomically thin
transition metal dichalcogenides by tailoring the properties of surrounding media. Such tuning is possible via the fundamental quantum electrodynamica Lamb and Purcell effects which result from the coupling of the exciton with the vacuum fluctuations of electromagnetic field. The theory behind these effects is presented. We also discuss the light absorption by ultranarrow excitonic resonances and address the role of electron coupling with chiral phonons in the bright-dark excitons conversion process.
